Campaign News

Clearfield Area United Way has card-stock Restaurant Logo's in the shape of small T-Shirts for fundraisers - these are the type that patrons write their names on and a donation of $1 is made for each. Then, they are hung throughout the establishment. For more information, please call 765-6521.

United Way recently donated nearly 3,000 Children's books to local Libraries in coordination with Dr. Seuss' Birthday and Read Across America Day. This is called United Way's Reading Ripples Project. Anyone from High School or College needing a volunteer project or anyone interested from a local company, store, office, is welcome to place a box in their location and collect items as well to HELP OTHERS. We also collect lightly used luggage for a Member Agency's teen clients and laptops to be used by a myriad of Member and Non-Member Agencies. Please call us if you need more information on any of these or if you have another Making A Difference donation idea.

"What Matters" is the theme of United Way Worldwide and our small office works day in and day out to promote United Way throughout our county. We have always supported the tenants of education, income and health. We have a 20-member community driven Board of Directors along with a one and one half person staff which strive to advance the common good and build a better life for us all.

While United Ways always have the ability to improve, our small office has continued to do great things throughout Clearfield County. We do on-going Site Visits and even agency visits with our Board Members and our now 24 Member Agencies. We are setting up meetings for a Community Health Assessment for Clearfield Hospital; in June our CAUW collected nearly 500 Early Grade Reading books in our “Reading Ripples” donation for area students, in which they could enjoy reading over the Summer. For several years we have also collected Prom dresses & accessories for donation. We have donated computer equipment for use in the Earned Income Tax Credit Assistance Program. We also have the “Jeans For Teens” Program. We were able to partner with a local businessman to obtain matching dollars, which allows the program to continue. We meet with local Non-Profits to determine needy youth; they are matched with volunteers who met at two local stores and have a $100 shopping spree three weeks prior to school starting; the youth had to purchase at least one pair of jeans as well as other school appropriate clothing. We have also been proud to be involved with the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive, which brings in many tons of food for needy families; CAUW provides special grants to Member Agencies and even extra items which were purchased by our caring board members. Our Office and Volunteers provide Community Impact at its core throughout the towns that we help to support with a myriad of services.

We just wrapped up another local School’s “United For United Way” change drive to boost ancillary fundraising efforts. Our “Dine Around” events this year are a new addition which came about by just “by asking” and we have been very pleased with the results. When you have only limited time to be able to devote to so many areas, you appreciate when others help along the way. A new Sub Coupon fundraiser wrapped up with 434 being sold just in a few weeks by a handful of volunteers.
